DeafTaxVITA completed Year 2 of the program with over 400 deaf, low-income taxpayers served in 17 cities across 11 states and generated nearly $400,000 in tax refunds and credits. This work is made possible through a partnership with the National Disability Institute and the IRS. There continues to be areas of needed improvement, including addressing the shortage of qualified, deaf tax preparers, so we are looking at plans to utilize VRS providers with a special toll-free number for DeafTaxVITA clients.
